The principle of our renowned NANO-CLEAN® impregnation is based on the term ‘bionic’ which means learning from nature. For instance to study, analyse and reproduce the structure of the shark’s skin and surface chemistry of the remarkable Lotus leaf. Contrary to the assumption that the shark's skin is a very smooth surface, in reality the structure of the shark’s skin is rough: microscopically small ribbles direct water and soil past the skin reducing the friction coefficient dramatically. A simular structure prevent leaves from being wetted by liquid. Having a contact angle between 90° and 170° to an unstructured surface of the same material, droplets roll off a leaf's surface like mercury, taking mud, tiny insects and contaminants with them: known as the lotus-effect
